PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of shortening cool-down time by reducing influence of solar insolation. SOLUTION: A roof duct 4a provided along a ceiling of the vehicle is structured in two floors having an upper side duct 401 and a lower side duct 402. Air conditioning air is introduced to the inside of a car room by the lower side duct 402 in cooling-down, and the upper side duct 401 functions as a heat insulating material between the roof and the lower side duct 402. The air conditioning air flows through the upper side duct 401 and a connecting duct and is blown out to the inside of the car room as indirect air in safety driving. A rib part 412 of hollow structure is provided in the lower side duct 402, and the air conditioning air in the upper side duct 401 is blown out to the inside of the car room through a hollow part of the rib part 412.
