A media reproduction apparatus having a climax block reproducing function and a climax block setting method are provided to reproduce a climax block when a scan function of audio or video is carried out, thereby making it possible to easily distinguish music and a title desired to be reproduced. A scan function for audio data and video data is executed. It is determined whether there is a climax block in the audio data or the video data(S406). The climax block of the audio data or the video data is reproduced(S408). In determining the existence of the climax block, a constant interval from a start position of the audio data or the video data is reproduced if there is not the climax block, wherein the constant interval corresponds to an intro-portion. The climax block is reproduced from its start position to its end position.
