<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store fault information relating to an image forming apparatus, into a memory of consumables or a replacement unit to use the information for fault repair and future product design of an apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus including attachable/detachable consumables, a readable/writable memory mounted on the consumables, and a table (fault information correspondence table) associating type of faults with information to be stored, the fault information correspondence table is referred to pick up recorded information in response to the occurrence of a fault, and then the recorded information is stored into the memory mounted on the consumables. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
