<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve ease of use of an automatic opening and closing device for a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: An electrostatic sensor for detecting an obstacle on a travel path of a slide door being closed is provided at a blocking end of the slide door mounted in a side part of the vehicle body to determine stick-up of the obstacle if sensor output of the electrostatic sensor exceeds a stick-up threshold value when the slide door is closed. The stick-up threshold value is set by using a door position as parameter, and sensitivity of the electrostatic sensor on a fully opened position side is set to be lower than sensitivity of the electrostatic sensor on a fully closed position side. Travel speed of the slide door is changed to high speed and low speed in accordance with a door position. Sensitivity of the electrostatic sensor when the slide door is automatically closed at high speed is set to be lower than sensitivity of the electrostatic sensor when the slide door is automatically closed at low speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
