PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage apparatus which is safe, has a high reliability, and enhances an airtightness. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a host interface portion to be connected to a host calculator through a network, a disk interface portion to be connected to a disk apparatus, a memory portion to store a cash memory for accessing to the disk apparatus and a control information of the storage apparatus, a processor portion to control the storage apparatus, a mutual connection portion to connect the host interface portion, the disk interface portion, the memory portion and the processor portion mutually, and an encryption functioning portion to encrypt a data to be read and written from the host. The processor portion reads the data stored in a prescribed area of the disk apparatus, decrypts the read data using an encryption key corresponding to the data, encrypts the decrypted data using an encryption key which is different from the above encryption key, and writes the encrypted data in a different area from the prescribed area.
