PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein it is difficult to adopt a linear motor driven machining head in machining using a large-sized forming tool electrode. SOLUTION: This profiling electrical discharge machining apparatus includes: two machining heads 1, 2 of the same type; and fitting members 10, 20. The machining heads 1, 2 adopt linear motor driven system in which quills 12, 22 as a mover are moved by linear motors 11, 21. The quills 11, 12 are controlled to move in synchronization with each other by a control device 4. One tool electrode is fitted to the fitting members 10, 20, respectively, and one common tool electrode is moved by the machining heads 1, 2. The machining heads 1, 2 are provided on both side surfaces of a cross beam 73 of a gantry as a whole, and the machining heads are controlled to move in the direction of X-axis in synchronization with each other as a whole.
