PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing apparatus for efficiently washing a thin roll plate material (a washed material) which is used for cultivating an enoki mushroom (Flammulina velutipes) and into which many small-diameter holes are bored, and to provide a method for washing the same. SOLUTION: A roller conveyor is equipped with feed rollers 1, ... which are simultaneously rotated and driven in the same direction and transfer the washed material, wherein the conveyor is composed of press rollers 2, ... structured so that the washed material is nipped between circumferential lower surfaces thereof and circumferential upper surfaces of the feed rollers by spring force, guide members 3, 4, ... which are arranged on upper and lower sides by keeping intervals for the purpose of guiding an upper surface and a lower surface of the washed material nipped between the feed rollers and the press rollers and transferred, rotary brushes 5, 5 which brush the upper surface and the lower surface of the washed material through the guide members, and spray nozzles 7, 7 which spray wash water forcedly supplied from a high-pressure water supply pump in upward and downward directions. Therefore, the washed material is nipped between the feed rollers and the press rollers, transferred and brushed while being guided by the guide members, and washed by being sprayed with the wash water.
