A real-time conformal terrain rendering method and a system thereof are provided to enable a processing card to pre-tessellate DTED and enable the only processing, performed by a graphics card processor, to effectively render a vertex array, thereby allowing the graphics card to render the desired area to be viewed as quickly as possible. A method for rendering a real-time conformal view of terrestrial body's terrain traversed by a mobile platform comprises the following steps of: determining an ATBT(Area of a Terrestrial Body to be Traversed) to be traversed by the mobile platform(104); tessellating DTED(Digital Terrain Elevation Data) displaying a terrain of the ATBT by using a processing card communicatively connected to an independent and separate graphic card, wherein the processing card and the graphic card are the built-in parts of the OCS(Onboard Computer System) of the mobile platform(118); and rendering the tessellated DTED by using the graphics card to provide the conformal view of the ATBT terrain as the mobile platform traverses the ATBT(122). |
