A switching apparatus is provided to prevent water from permeating inside a case through an opening of a cylinder from the outside by using a stepped portion. A switching apparatus includes a switch, a case accommodating the switch, a cylinder(3) on the case and opened up and down to communicate with an interior of the case, and an operation knob(8) to cover the opening of the cylinder. The switch is operated by the operation knob. A stepped portion(7) rising toward the cylinder is provided in a position closer to the cylinder than an outer peripheral surface of the operation knob around the cylinder on the case.
