<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device for a double-sided display with which display unevenness is scarcely visually recognized by reducing a footprint of a reflection polarizing plate and, while modulating an abrupt change of a reflectance, and an electronic appliance. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal device for the double-sided display including first and second liquid crystal panels disposed so as to at least partially overlap with each other in a plan view via an illuminator, a reflection polarizing plate is equipped between the second liquid crystal panel and the illuminator, and in a region which is in a reflection polarizing plate non-existing region of the illuminator on the second liquid crystal panel side and is at least adjacent to the reflection polarizing plate, a reflectance adjusting member for making light reflectance in the region come close to that in a reflection polarizing plate existing region, different from the reflection polarizing plate, is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
