PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas combustion device capable of early detecting combustion of unplanned type of gas, and free from false detection even when combustion phenomenon is changed with time. SOLUTION: A controller 40 is provided with a totalizing means 47 for determining an integrated combustion time, a forced combustion means 43 for performing forced combustion with a prescribed gas flow rate for a prescribed time from ignition, a temperature comparing means 48 for comparing an index of an internal temperature of the device capable of monitoring a combustion state of the gas burner 21 with a threshold value, a rotational frequency comparing means 49 for comparing a rotational frequency of a warm air fan 23 with a threshold value, an unplanned gas detecting means 44, and a heating operation control means 42. The unplanned gas detecting means 44 determines whether the unplanned gas combustion is performed or not on the basis of results of the comparisons by the temperature comparing means 48 and the rotational frequency comparing means 49 only in an initial stage of use of the device when the integrated combustion time is not over the prescribed time. The heating operation control means 42 lowers the rotational frequency of the warm air fan 23 in initial forced combustion, with respect to a set rotational frequency, in detecting the combustion of the unplanned type of gas.
