PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polystyrene-based resin foam sheet which can provide a molding having general properties comparable with those of a molding formed with a conventional polystyrene based resin foam sheet of the same thickness and density and exhibiting higher strength, especially higher compression strength, and can achieve the saving of the material and cost reduction, and a method for manufacturing the resin foam sheet. SOLUTION: The polystyrene-based resin foam sheet has a thickness of 1.0-4.0 mm and a density of 0.05-0.2 g/cm<SP>3</SP>. The heat shrinkage rate of the resin foam sheet after 30 second heating at 140°C is 0-15% in both the extrusion and the transverse directions of the resin foam sheet, and the ratio of the heat shrinkage rate in the extrusion direction to that in the transverse direction is 0.5-1.5.
