PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery improved in sealing performance by preventing leakage of a gas generated from the inside of the battery or an electrolyte by forming raised projections or incised grooves on a surface of a gasket in a part in contact with a safety vent or a surface of the gasket in a part in contact with a bead. SOLUTION: This lithium secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly; a vessel type can for receiving the electrode assembly therein; a cap assembly provided with the safety vent having a projecting part projecting from the center to a lower part and deformed to an upper part by internal pressure of the battery, a current cutoff means, and a cap-up connected to an upper part of the current cutoff means and used for sealing an opening of the can; and the gasket positioned between the cap assembly and the can for keeping airtightness. The lithium secondary battery is characterized by forming the raised projections or incised grooves on the surface of the gasket in a part in contact with the safety vent.
