PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing and a waterproof connector in which a hood portion for packing protection is eliminated by equipping a protection function of sealing face with the packing itself. SOLUTION: In the waterproof connector, a packing 10 is installed on an insertion and engagement face 1a of the outer periphery of a male connector 1 which is engaged with an insertion and engagement face 3a of the inner periphery of a hood 3 of a female connector 2, and by engaging the male connector and the female connector, the inner peripheral fitting face 3a of the hood 3 of the female connector is contacted sliding with the sealing face 12 of the packing 10, and the engagement faces 1a, 3a of the male connector and the female connector are sealed. The packing 10 is used which has integrally a protection cover 13 to protect the sealing face 12, and the installation face 11a of the packing main body 11 is fixed to the outer peripheral fitting face of the male connector, and by making the free-end side of the protection cover 13 face the front side for being fitted to the female connector, the packing is mounted on the male connector.
