PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive wavelength branching filter that transmits light in a 1,310 nm wavelength range and reflects light in 1,490 nm and 1,650 wavelength ranges. SOLUTION: The wavelength branching filter comprises the first multilayer film 11 positioned in an incident light side of a glass substrate 10 and the second multilayer film 12 positioned in an exiting light side, wherein the first multilayer film 11 has characteristics of reflecting light in a 1,490 nm wavelength range and transmitting light in a 1,310 nm wavelength range, and the second multilayer film 12 has characteristics of reflecting light in a 1,650 nm wavelength range and transmitting light in a 1,310 wavelength range.
