PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device capable of shortening an actual interval between a pre-injection and a post-injection. SOLUTION: A controller for the fuel injection device gradually shortens a command interval between a pilot injection and a main injection during an injection period for one cycle for each injector when a learning condition (including an engine stable operation state) is satisfied. The shortest command interval when the actual injection amount injected from each injector rapidly increases or immediately before the rapid increase is obtained. As such, where the interval is very short, the rapid increase in the actual injection amount can be advantageously used for obtaining the command interval where the actual interval for each injector becomes the shortest.
