PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sheet free from deterioration in characteristics and having reduced warpage in a heat treatment type aluminum alloy sheet after quenching. SOLUTION: Regarding the quenching method, in a quenching stage after solution treatment for a heat treatment type aluminum alloy sheet, the difference in the temperature of both the surfaces in the sheet during cooling is controlled to≤50°C. The above is attained, e.g., by quenching the sheet in a cooling medium fed with a gas of 0.3 to 70 L/min per m<SP>3</SP>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
