PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the structure of a method or an apparatus for drying wood flour or wood shavings by a simple mechanical technique without using expensive electric power. SOLUTION: In order to materialize the method for drying the wood powder or the wood shavings 7 by pressurization in an environment the vacuum of which is 10<SP>3</SP>Pa or below, a pressure plate 3 applying pressure from both sides is installed in a closed chamber 1 communicating with a suction pump 2. On at least one side of the pressure plate 3, a joining pole 5 supported slidably by a packing material 6 is projected from the closed chamber 1.
