Prevention of legionella in drinking water supply nets, comprises injection of liquid carbon dioxide into the water of the supply network after heating of the water to kill the legionella. The entry of the carbon dioxide in consecutive phases into the water takes place more differently per unit time of registered carbon dioxide quantity. The duration of the phases and/or the registered quantity of the carbon dioxide is regulated based upon the measurement of water specific parameters like pH, quantity of germs or similar. An independent claim is included for a system for water supply.
