A method and a device for dividing/transferring a media file are provided to make a streaming media file played well without pause in a client even if a media file reception speed of the client is not fast, as the streaming media file is divided by leaving an overlapped section. A device for dividing/transferring a media file consists of a receiver, a media file divider and a transmitter. The receiver receives the media file from a CP(Content Provider). The media file divider generates video files by dividing an audio and video file separated from the media file. The transmitter transmits the audio file and the video files to the client. The video files are transmitted and reproduced in the client(10) by using a streaming mode. The video files are generated by including at least one overlapped area. The client plays the media file by synchronizing the video files with the audio file based on time information. |
