An ID setup method of a monitoring camera is provided to successively and simply perform the setup operation of intrinsic IDs for a plurality of monitoring cameras by composing a switching circuit for switching a multi-connection mode and a sequential connection mode in a plurality of the monitoring cameras, and connecting a control box to the certain one monitoring camera. After a plurality of monitoring cameras is connected by a chain type(S10), a microcomputer sets the respective monitoring cameras as a multi-connection mode(S11). After a control box is connected to the certain one monitoring camera(S12), if an ID setup command is received from the control box(S13), the microcomputer switches the mode of the respective monitoring cameras into a sequential connection mode(S14). If a certain one ID is received(S15), the monitoring camera connected with the control box sets the ID in its device(S16), generates a new ID, and transmits the generated new ID to the monitoring camera adjacently connected(S17). The monitoring camera successively and repeatedly receives the new ID, sets the ID in its device, generates another new ID, and transmits the generated new ID to the monitoring camera adjacently connected.
