<p>A portable computer and a control method thereof are provided to reduce unnecessary power consumption by disabling a power selector in case that a display unit is detached from a main unit, and enable a user to use the portable computer without risk such as a wrong operation or disproduct when the display unit is detached. The power selector(10) selects power supply. A mounting detector(20) detects mounting of the display unit(200). A controller(30) disables the power selector in case that separation between the display unit and the main unit is determined based on a detection result. An OS(Operating System) storing part stores multiple OSs. The power selector includes multiple booting buttons for booting each OS. A switch switches a selection signal received from the power selector. If the separation is determined, the controller makes the switch prevent the selection signal from flowing out to a power supply unit(40).</p> |
