A method for authenticating a person's identity in an educational or training environment comprises sensing a biometric feature, such as finger-print, of an authentication-seeking person. The finger print image scanning is conducted on an active RFID device in the size of a credit card and is compared to a reference data. Upon matching the finger-print with the stored biometric reference data, the RFID device generates an authenticated signal unique to said authorised person via radio frequency to be received by a signal reader linked to a database containing records of authorised persons. Software applications may be provided to identify the authorised person's authenticated signal with his record on said database. The application may further collating the authorised person's record with other authorised person's records in said database for further data processing.
