FIELD: photographic materials. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for production of ultrafine-grained bromoiodosilver photographic emulsion having average silver halogenide microcrystal size of 0.005-0.01 mum. Claimed method includes single-jet emulsifying at silver ion excess and pBr = 8.0-8.3 after process finishing; concentration by freezing method followed by thawing and washing; adjusting pH to 7.3; chemical sensitizing and spectral sensitizing with dyes from merocyaninocyanine group. Method for spectral sensitizing includes emulsion dividing onto two parts: in 50-70 % part (based on emulsion weight) dyes selected from group containing 3-ethyl-3'-gamma-sulfopropyl-4-keto-4'-phenyl-5(1''-gamma-sulfopropyldihydroquinolylidene-4''-ethylidene)-thiazolynothiazolocyanine betaine sodium salt; 3-allyl-3'ethyl-4'5'-biphenyl-4-keto-5-(1''-ethylhydroquinolidene-4''-ethylidene)-thiazolynothiazolocyaninethyl sulfate) are introduced; and in 30-50 % part (based on emulsion weight) dyes selected from group containing 1-beta-oxyethyl-3-n-propyl-5-(3'-beta-carboxyethylbenzoxazolinylidene-2'-ethylidene)-imidazolidinetion-2-on-4, 1-(3-oxyethyl-3-n-propyl-5-(3'-beta'-carboxyethylbenzoxazolinylidene-2'-ethylidene-imidazolidinetion-2-on-4 potassium salt are introduced.
