When AVclips recorded in a BD-ROM and a local storage (18) constitute one stream sequence, a playback control engine (32) starts reproduction when a part of the AVclips constituting the stream sequence are in a recognizable enable state even if the other AVclips are in an unrecognizable disable state. While a part of the AVclips of the stream sequence is being reproduced, a virtual file system (38) changes the states of the other AVclips to an enable state recognizable by the playback control engine (32) or to a disable state not recognizable according to a method call by the application.
