A fixing unit of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus is provided to prevent poor printing even when a thick paper sheet or an envelope is used and actively control a contact nip between a heat roller and a press roller to effectively prevent a toner image before being fixed from coming into contact with a surrounding device and spreading. A fixing unit(100) of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes a heat roller(101), a press roller(102), and a contact nip controller. The heat roller heats a paper sheet to which a toner image is transferred. The press roller forms a contact nip with the heat roller and presses the paper sheet passing through the contact nip while rotating. The contact nip controller moves the press roller to a paper transfer direction to change the contact nip. |
