An input unit for mapping multiple functions to a single button and a mobile device are provided to reduce time required for manipulating buttons and improve the usability of the buttons by mapping more functions to the smaller number of buttons in a smaller space. Click buttons(23,24,25a,26a) mapped to a single function, respectively. Slide buttons(25b,26b) are mapped to two or more functions. An input unit of a mobile device includes a click mode in which only the click buttons(23,24,25a,26a) are used, and a click/slide mode in which the click buttons(23,24,25a,26a) and the slide buttons(25b,26b) are used. A function expanding function changes the mobile device to the second click/slide mode.
