PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and easily position platelike elements, in a platelike heat exchanger, to mutually connect the platelike elements without clearance. SOLUTION: On a first side plate 10 including guide pieces 12, 13, 14 and 15 raised substantially at a right angle from the outer periphery, platelike elements 30, 40, 50 and 60 having fluid passages and an isolation plate 70 as a heat exchange membrane are superposed along the guide pieces so that guide projections provided on the elements and the isolation plate are fitted to the guide pieces, and a second side plate 20 is finally placed thereon. The first side plate 10, the platelike elements, the isolation plate and the second platelike element 20 are heated at high temperature with pressure and diffusion-bonded.
