PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat energy recovery device for suppressing the degradation of energy recovery efficiency with machine loss. SOLUTION: The heat energy recovery device comprises a compressor 10 for compressing sucked operating gas, a heat exchanger 20 for permitting the high pressure operating gas compressed by the compressor 10 to absorb the heat of high temperature fluid, and an expander 30 for pushing a piston 32 in a cylinder 31 with the heat expansion of the high pressure operating gas after absorbing the heat. A rotary valve 36 as a suction valve of the expander 30 has an outer case 361, an inner rotor 362 for communicating a suction passage 34 with the internal of the cylinder 31 or closing it depending on a rotating position in the outer case 361, and a static pressure bearing 369 using the high pressure operating gas from the suction passage 34 for journaling the inner rotor 362 to the outer case 361.
