PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for producing a (meth)acrylic ester, whereby the corrosion of a vacuum pump is easily prevented and both of the maintenance of the vacuum pump and the reduction of production cost can be achieved. SOLUTION: The (meth)acrylic ester is produced by subjecting (meth)acrylic acid to esterification reaction with an alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst and an organic solvent in a reactor 11, neutralizing the reaction product with an aqueous alkali solution in a neutralization vessel 18, and removing the organic solvent from the reaction product in a desolvation vessel 20. The esterification is carried out under a reduced pressure while the mist of acid components consisting at least of (meth)acrylic acid and the acid catalyst is being water-sealed with a water-seal-type vacuum pump 28 connected to the reactor 11. To the desolvation vessel 20, a roots-type vacuum pump 26 and the water-seal-type vacuum pump 28 are connected in series. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
