PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display only once a guide on the striking deviation adjustment function when adjusting of a striking position deviation is not carried out in any of a host and a body after replacement of a cartridge. SOLUTION: There are provided a head attachment/detachment detecting function for detecting attachment/detachment of a recording head, a registration adjustment guide displaying flag installed in a recorder body, a registration adjustment guide flag ON setting function for turning the registration adjustment guide displaying flag ON when the head is replaced, a guide displaying function for displaying a message of the registration adjustment guide only when the displaying flag of the registration adjustment guide is ON by referring to the displaying flag when printing is carried out from the host, and a registration adjustment guide flag OFF setting function for turning the registration adjustment guide displaying flag OFF when the registration adjustment guide is displayed or when the registration adjustment is executed from the body or a PC.
