Drive comprises toothed wheels (23, 24) which rotate on a shaft journal (16) of a transfer cylinder (4). The first toothed wheel (23) interacts with a drive toothed wheel (22) of a printing cylinder (2) and the second toothed wheel (24) interacts with a drive toothed wheel (25) of a printing cylinder (5). The toothed wheels are coupled individually with the journal. Preferred Features: The second toothed wheel and the drive toothed wheel (25) have a slanted toothed arrangement. A control unit controls the printing machine in different operational states so that the toothed wheels are coupled with the journal depending on the operational state.
