An electro-optical crystal (3) is furnished with a surface (6) inclined relative to the entry surface (4). Total internal reflection occurs there (6). An exit surface (7) lies parallel to the optical axis of the crystal (Z'). Light leaving the exit surface is focused by a lens (11). It is deflected as a function of the electrical field acting on the crystal. It is deflected either onto the absorber (13) in the focal plane, or onto a further lens assembly, by the electrical field.
