A plasma display panel is provided to improve a contrast characteristic by forming one pixel with four sub-pixels of red, green, blue and black sub-pixels. A front substrate and a rear substrate have opposite sides. A plurality of discharge cells(18) are formed between the opposite sides of the front and rear substrates. A plurality of address electrodes are formed along a first direction between the front and rear substrates. A plurality of display electrodes are formed along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction between the front and rear substrates. The display electrodes are electrically separated from the address electrodes. The discharge cells include pixels. Each of the pixels is formed with four sub-pixels.
