PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the formation of burrs in a caulking process while improving mounting strength in a support pin (a stud pin) caulking-fixed to a plate-like workpiece. SOLUTION: The support pin 1 comprises a fit-in part 2 fitted into a hole S1 of the workpiece S; a flange part 3 provided at one end of the fit-in part 2; and a projecting shank 5 provided at the other end of the fit-in part 2. An annular recess 6 is formed at the end face part of the fit-in part 2 to form a caulking part 4 of triangular cross section. The axial length L1 of the fit-in part 2 is longer than the plate thickness dimension T1 of the workpiece S. In the caulking process using a die 7 and a punch 8, the tip of the caulking part 4 is exposed from the workpiece S from the beginning. Directionality of deforming a part of the caulking part 4 to expand outward is thereby imparted to prevent burring of the part of the caulking part 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
