PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular light unit suitably detecting the open failure or the short circuit failure of a power source made from a plurality of light-emitting elements connected in a forward direction in series. SOLUTION: The vehicular light unit 1 is installed in a vehicle. The vehicular light unit 1 comprises: the light source 2 made of the plurality of light-emitting elements connected in the forward direction in series; a voltage controlling means 4 keeping a current passing through the light source 2 at a fixed value by changing supplied voltage to the light source 2; and a CPU 7 obtaining a supplied voltage value to the light source 2 and issuing a warning when the supplied voltage value to the light source 2 becomes a predetermined open failure voltage value or a predetermined short circuit failure voltage value. The open failure voltage value or the short circuit failure voltage value are regulated on the basis of a measured value of forward direction voltage of the light source 2 in a normal state.
