The invention provides a new parechoviral serotype called HPEV 251176, and functional parts, derivatives and analogues of said virus. Compounds capable of specifically binding HPEV 251176, such as isolated or recombinant antibodies and T cells, are also herewith provided. Immunogenic compositions, vaccines, pharmaceutical compositions and diagnostic kits comprising said virus, amino acid sequence or compound are also provided, as well as methods for producing same. A diagnostic kit of the invention may as well comprise a primer/probe capable of amplifying and/or hybridising at least part of the genome of HPEV 251176.
