The watery fiber suspension (S1) is passed through a screw press thickening stage (3) where water is pressed out to give a higher consistency e.g. 15-35%. The high-consistency suspension (S2) is measured by the power take-up at the disperser drive (2) which indicates the suspension consistency and the water-extraction effect at the thickening stage, for its control, and also to adjust the dispersion effect accordingly so that the disperser (1) takes a specific power working of 30-150 kWh/to.
