[Class 20 (iii)] In a window construction in which a movable portion 3 is counter-balanced by spring-controlled rollers 8 movable with the pane 3 on bars or rails 10 within the well 7, the vertical side channels 2 are in two parts separated by a gap, which may be bridged by a felt lining, and the upper part is pivoted to a top bracket 16, allowing the pane when fully raised to be tilted and slightly lowered to cause a catch piece 18 to rest upon a fence plate 19 on the frame. The upper ends of the rails 10 are attached to a garnish rail 6 and their lower ends to a bar 12 removably fitting in recesses in or between jaws or brackets on vertical pillars of the main structure. To enable the rollers to tilt correspondingly with their carrier arms 20 and brackets 21, the brackets are mounted on hinge pins 22 carried on the pane edging strip 17. The pane handle 5 comprises a split tubular portion 25 embracing a flange 24 of the upper edging strip 4 and slidable along it for locating where desired.
