PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unexpected collision of a tool mounted to a rotary main spindle of a working machine in advance. SOLUTION: A tool moves forward in a direction for approaching to a measuring means for measuring a tip position of a tool mounted to a rotary main spindle. When the tip position of the tool is detected by the measuring means, a forward movement of the tool is stopped. The tool position at the time of stopping is calculated, to calculate the length of the tool. The calculated length of the tool is compared with the stored length of the tool, to judge whether a kind of the tool mounted to the main spindle is regular or not from comparison results.
