PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a rotary electric mache so that a cooling-type casing will not interfere with a coil end of a stator core, without enlarging the shape of a rotary electric machine as a whole. SOLUTION: An integral casing portion 18 of almost the same outside diameter as that of an outer casing body C<SB>1</SB>is provided at one end of an inner casing body C<SB>2</SB>. Only the body portion 17, excluding the integral casing portion 18 in the inner casing body C<SB>2</SB>, is inserted into and engaged with the body portion 13 of the outer casing body C<SB>1</SB>, by which the inner and the outer casing bodies C<SB>1</SB>, C<SB>2</SB>are integrated to form the cooling type casing C, then a distance (e) from an inner peripheral face 23 of the cooling type casing C up to the coil end 3a of the stator core 3 is made larger, while securing a machining region (wall thickness (t) of the integral casing portion 18) of a female thread 29 for mounting a cover material 1.
