PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzer of a high-molecular sample capable of obtaining the chemical knowledge related to the optical deterioration of a high-molecular material in an extremely short time. SOLUTION: The analyzer of the high-molecular sample is equipped with a vapor phase component forming means 2 for forming a plurality of vapor phase components, a carrier gas introducing means 15 for introducing a carrier gas into the vapor phase component forming means 2, a separation means 4 for separating the vapor phase components into individual components and a detection means 5 for detecting the separated components and further equipped with an ultraviolet irradiation means 11 for irradiating thehigh-molecular sample, an atmosphere gas introducing means 16 for introducing an atmosphere gas into the vapor phase component forming means 2 and a gas switching means 17 for changing over the gas introduced into the separation means 4 to the carrier gas and the atmospheric gas. The high-molecular sample is deteriorated and decomposed by irradiating the high-molecular sample with ultraviolet rays under the gas atmosphere, which is introduced from the atmospheric gas introducing means 16, by the ultraviolet irradiation means 11. After the high-molecular sample is deteriorated and decomposed, the gas introduced into the separation means 4 is changed over to the carrier gas by the gas switching means 17 and the vapor phase component is introduced into the separation means 4 by the carrier gas.
