A method for expressing feelings in the picture phone mode of a mobile terminal is provided to display and transmit emoticons to express feeling states in the picture phone mode so that users can enjoy picture communication with emoticons more intimately. If the user positions a desired emoticon through a direction key and selects it(204), the control part stores the selected emoticon in a temporary buffer(205). At this time, the control part stops the user's video data, displayed on the second display field of the LCD screen, decodes the temporarily stored emoticon, and displays it(206). Then the control part stores the emoticon in an RGB buffer and transmits it to the other side's mobile terminal.
