PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a transparent resin composition, capable of controlling a thermal history of a resin in melting by heat, heat generation by shear, etc., when compared with mixing procedures, such as a melting and kneading procedure, which are conventionally known as mixing procedures of the resin, and therefore capable of giving excellent quality to the composition with excellent productivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the transparent resin composition comprises supplying a continuous kneading machine of horizontal closed type with a transparent resin composition solution which is given by dissolving a resin component comprising 35-55 wt% of an N-phenyl-substituted maleimide-olefin copolymer having a number-average molecular weight of not less than 1×10<SP>3</SP>and not more than 5×10<SP>6</SP>and 65-45 wt% of an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer in a polar organic solvent, and then volatilizing and separating the polar organic solvent.
