PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article to be held between labia to be used, capable of being flushed away after use because the absorbent article is securely decomposed but is not decomposed while the article is used. SOLUTION: The absorbent article 1 comprises a liquid-retainable front surface sheet 2, a liquid-impermeable rear surface sheet 3, and an absorber 4 interposed between the sheets. The absorbent article is substantially long in the vertical direction, and is to be held in the gap between the labia of a female user. The absorbent article 1 has a notch in the peripheral edge of the article 1 as a division starting part 14 which can be the starting point of tearing, as indicated in the figures 1 and 2. The absorbent article 1 can be torn with the division starting part 14 as the starting point of tearing so that the absorber 4 is exposed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
