<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating compressor less producing blow-by gas amount and increased in the life of a bearing member radially supporting a rotating shaft. <P>SOLUTION: This reciprocating compressor comprises the rotating shaft, a piston reciprocatingly driven by the rotating shaft through a power conversion mechanism, a center housing in which a cylinder bore for inserting the piston therein is formed, a front housing disposed at one end of the center housing and forming a crankcase storing the power conversion mechanism in cooperation with the center housing, a valve plate disposed at the other end of the center housing and in which a suction hole and a discharge hole communicating with the cylinder bore are formed, and a rear housing holding the valve plate in cooperation with the center housing and forming a suction chamber and a discharge chamber in cooperation with the valve plate.
