PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder liner capable of reducing an axial temperature difference of a cylinder and an engine using the cylinder liner. SOLUTION: In this cylinder liner 2, a high heat conductive coating 4 is formed on the outer peripheral surface 22 of the liner at the axial upper part, and a low heat conductive coating 5 is formed on the outer peripheral surface 22 of the liner at the axial lower part.
