PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a correct and efficient positioning of terminals by checking the continuity between them. SOLUTION: In order to position a first terminal 7 of a first electronic member 3 and a second terminal 9 of a second electronic member 5 before joining them together, the first electronic member is fixed on a fixed table 15. Then, the second electronic member held by a movable table 17 is moved, and the second terminal is moved by the unit distance in a first direction from one end toward the other end of the first terminal. Each time the second terminal is moved by the unit distance, it is also moved in a second direction to bring it into contact with and then separate it from the first terminal repeatedly to check the continuity between the first and second terminals by means of a continuity check meter 21. The coordinates where the continuity is first established, the coordinates where the non-continuity is first confirmed, and the distance of continuity from the first continuity state to the first non-continuity state are calculated by an arithmetic unit 31 of a controller 19. According to the instruction of the controller 19 based on the calculation results, the second terminal 9 is moved and positioned at a desired place on the first terminal 7.
