PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily adjust the tilt of an optical pickup to the inclination of a recording plane of the optical disk to optimum tilt when information data is recorded/reproduced in the optical disk regardless of existence of the information data. SOLUTION: The tilt quantity of the optical pickup is changed, and tilt quantity of the optical pickup having a maximum amplitude of a wobble signal in an inner periphery of the optical disk is detected, tilt quantity of the optical pickup is changed, and tilt quantity of the optical pickup having the maximum amplitude of a wobble signal in an outer periphery of the optical disk is detected, tilt quantity of the optical pickup is calculated by approximating linearly the detected tilt quantity in the outer periphery of the optical disk and the detected tilt quantity in the inner periphery of the optical disk, and the tilt of the optical pickup is adjusted based on the calculated tilt quantity.
