The method involves presenting an acoustic signal and acoustically presenting characterization information on the signal by possible responses of a hearing aid system. A response of a user (B) of a hearing aid (HG) is determined on the presented acoustic signal and characterization information. The choice of the hearing aid system is acoustically acknowledged to the user of the hearing aid by the determined response of the user. An independent claim is also included for a hearing aid system.
